He has been engaged to assist, the Ontario Superior Court (including the Commercial List) and arbitrators in private arbitrations, on several matters where I was lead counsel. His presentations are clear, readily understood by the judge or arbitrator (typically she or he is a retired judge) and those presentations are relied upon by the court or arbitrator in decision-making and by the parties in the course of resolving the matter. Our greatest success was based upon Mr. Macaulay's analysis, written report and oral testimony where he quantified the damages suffered by a Canadian company in a contractual dispute with a sovereign state.
